Perkadox® 14-40B-PD is a 40% formulation on an inert carrier system in powder form.
0Perkadox® 14-40B-PD is a 40% formulation on an inert carrier system in powder form.
Perkadox 14-40B-PD is di(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzene (BIPB, CAS 25155-25-3 / 2212-81-9) at 39–41 % on an inert carrier, supplied as an off-white powder by Nouryon. This bifunctional peroxide crosslinks natural rubber, synthetic rubbers and polyolefins, with excellent scorch safety and the possibility of one-step mixing under suitable conditions.
The safe processing temperature is 135 °C (rheometer ts2 > 20 min) and the typical crosslinking temperature is 175 °C (rheometer t90 about 12 min). For transport it is classified as a flammable solid (class 4.1, UN 1325), not as an organic peroxide. Pure BIPB in flake form is available as Perkadox 14S-FL; for a dicumyl peroxide alternative, seePerkadox BC-40B-PD. For more background, read our article onBIPB as a crosslinking solution. The Perkadox 14-40B-PD product data sheet (TDS/PDS) lists specifications, thermal stability data and storage limits. The safety data sheet (SDS/MSDS) covers hazard classification, transport and emergency measures. English documents can be downloaded below; Chinese versions are available on request.
- Natural rubber crosslinking: bifunctional cure with excellent scorch safety.
- Synthetic rubber crosslinking: one-step mixing possible under suitable conditions.
- Polyolefin crosslinking: crosslinking of polyethylene and other polyolefins.
Store Perkadox 14-40B-PD below 30 °C in tightly closed original packaging, in a dry, well-ventilated area away from heat, ignition sources and direct sunlight. Never weigh it out in the storage room, and keep it away from reducing agents such as amines, acids, alkalis and heavy metal compounds. It is transported as a flammable solid (class 4.1, UN 1325).
A: Perkadox 14-40B-PD is Nouryon's di(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzene (BIPB) at 40 % on an inert carrier in powder form. It is a bifunctional peroxide for crosslinking rubber and polyolefins.
A: The 40 % formulation contains 3.7–3.9 % active oxygen. The figure of 9.45 % is the theoretical value of pure BIPB.
A: Perkadox 14-40B-PD is bifunctional BIPB with a safe processing temperature of 135 °C and a typical crosslinking temperature of 175 °C. Perkadox BC-40B-PD is monofunctional dicumyl peroxide with 130 °C and 170 °C.
A: No. For transport it is classified as a flammable solid, class 4.1, UN 1325.
