Product Description
LOCTITE® 263™ is designed for the permanent locking and sealingof threaded fasteners. The product cures when confined in theabsence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and preventsloosening and leakage from shock and vibration. LOCTITE® 263™is particularly suited for heavy duty applications such as studs intomotor housings, nuts onto studs in pump housings and otherfasteners where high strength is required. LOCTITE® 263™provides robust curing performance. It not only works on activemetals (e.g. brass, copper) but also on passive substrates such asstainless steel and plated surfaces. The product offers hightemperature performance and oil tolerance. It tolerates minorsurface contaminations from various oils, such as cutting, lubrication, anti-corrosion and protection fluids.

How It's Used
Surfaces are cleaned with a LOCTITE® cleaning solvent and dried before assembly. Product is shaken thoroughly, then applied as several drops onto the bolt at the nut engagement area for through-holes, or into the lower third of the threads for blind holes; sealing applications get a 360° bead on the leading threads (and female threads too, for larger sizes), with the first thread left free. After assembly and tightening, the joint cures anaerobically. Given its permanent-strength intent, disassembly requires localized heat to around 250°C on the nut or bolt. Cured residue can be cleaned up by soaking in a LOCTITE® solvent combined with mechanical abrasion.
LOCTITE® 263™ is not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant against chlorine or other strong oxidizers. When aqueous washing systems are used before bonding, check compatibility with the adhesive.
Storage
Store in the original, unopened container in a dry location. Optimal storage is 8°C to 21°C — storage below 8°C or above 28°C can affect product properties. Material removed from the container should not be returned to it once it may have been contaminated during use.
