Trigonox B is an efficient initiator for the production of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), suitable for both tubular and autoclave processes. In most cases it is used in combination with other peroxides to ensure a broad reactivity range. Trigonox B may also be used for the polymerization and copolymerization of styrene in the 95–185°C temperature range. In practice, combinations of two or more peroxides with diverging activities are used to reduce residual monomer content in the final polymer and increase reactor efficiency — a strategy shared with Chang Chun's Trigonox C, another high-temperature Nouryon initiator often blended for a broader polymerization temperature window.
