Description
AEROSIL® R 106 is a hydrophobic fumed silica, produced by surface-treating hydrophilic fumed silica with D4 (octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane). This silicone-based surface treatment replaces the reactive silanol groups on untreated grades such as AEROSIL® 200 HVandAEROSIL® 380, giving R 106 low moisture pick-up and strong, stable pseudoplastic thickening in non-aqueous resin systems.
R 106 is especially recommended for two-component (2K) epoxy resin systems, where it delivers shear-thinning flow: the system thickens at rest to resist sagging on vertical surfaces, then thins under brush, roller, or spray shear for smooth, easy application.
