Product Detail

Product Description

Chemlease® 1365 EZ is a semi-permanent mold release system developed specifically for the composites industry, for applications where a genuinely high-quality finish is non-negotiable. It sits alongside the Chemlease® PMR family as another option within Chem-Trend's composite release lineup, sharing the same core benefits — no mold wax, minimal transfer, high temperature stability — but formulated as its own distinct system rather than a variant within the PMR line. Like PMR, it's HAPs-free as a formula constituent and uses solvent carriers with no Class I or II registered ozone-depleting substances, and it delivers excellent gloss without building up on the mold surface over repeated cycles.

Benefits

● HAPs free*

● Multiple releases between applications

● Easy to apply

● Eliminates the use of wax

● Reduces labor time and costs

● Provides excellent gloss

● High temperature stability

● Does not build up on the mold surface

● Minimal transfer to molded part

*HAPs are not formula constituents of this product. Standard manufacturing processes may result in trace quantities (<0.1%) of HAPs.

Mold Preparation / Cleaning

● Thoroughly clean mold surfaces to remove all traces of wax, release agents, sealers, and buffing compounds

● Do a final cleaning with Chemlease® Mold Cleaner

● Seal the mold with the appropriate Chemlease® Sealer

How It's Used (Base Coats)

The mold surface must be thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free of contaminants. A clean cotton cloth is saturated (not dripping) and wiped on as a smooth, continuous film over no more than a few square feet at a time. As the film begins to evaporate at the edge, the surface is wiped with a second clean dry cotton cloth in a circular motion from the outside working inward until dry and clear. This is repeated until the entire mold is covered, applying 4–5 total coats with 15 minutes between each complete coat, followed by a 30-minute full cure before production.

A quick tape test confirms proper application: masking tape applied to a properly released mold should lift with very little resistance, compared to firm adhesion on an untreated mold.

Touch-Up Coats

Preventative touch-up scheduling outperforms reactive touch-ups applied only once parts begin sticking — for example, if 20 releases are achievable between touch-ups, reapplying a coat every 15 cycles (or at the end of every second shift) keeps molds in production longer and establishes a consistent quality-maintenance routine.
