Product Detail

Product Description

Butanox® LPT-IN is a methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) supplied in diisononyl phthalate, used for curing unsaturated polyester resins in the presence of a cobalt accelerator at room and elevated temperatures. Compared with most other ketone peroxides, Butanox® LPT-IN gives a significantly longer gel time, making it particularly suited to applications where a long gel time or production time is required — such as the production of large parts and filament winding. It also performs well in high-ambient-temperature environments.

Butanox® LPT-IN is especially recommended for curing vinyl ester resins, and this MEKP formulation produces less foaming than standard MEKPs. Its guaranteed low water content and absence of polar compounds make it well suited to GRP products for marine applications. The low hydrogen peroxide content also makes it a good fit for curing gelcoats that are prone to microporosity caused by hydrogen peroxide decomposition.
