Product Detail

Description

AEROSIL® R 812 is a fumed silica post-treated with organosilane (HMDS — hexamethyldisilazane), combining a high specific surface area with exceptional hydrophobicity. Compared with the D4-treated AEROSIL® R 106, the HMDS treatment on R 812 makes it especially effective in solventborne and two-component polyurethane (2K PU) systems, providing efficient thickening at low addition levels.

R 812 disperses to a high level of transparency, which is why it is especially recommended for automotive clear coats — where rheology control is needed without introducing haze into the finish.
