Product Description
DERAKANE™ SIGNIA 411 is a bisphenol-A epoxy vinyl ester resin that, once fabricated into a composite part, resists a wide range of acids, alkalis, bleaches, and organic compounds used in chemical processing industry applications.
SIGNIA 411 is the next-generation evolution of our DERAKANE™ MOMENTUM 411-350, built on the same proven chemistry with improved secondary bonding, lower emissions, and a proprietary identification system for verifying built-to-spec equipment. For high-temperature service, see DERAKANE™ MOMENTUM 470-300; for fire retardancy, see DERAKANE™ MOMENTUM 510 C-350 HOI.
For Composite Manufacturers
● Designed to enhance secondary bonding and reduce or eliminate the need for surface preparation between laminate layers during initial production, cutting labor costs and producing a cleaner workplace
● Formulated for better wet-out, reduced gassing, and faster composite consolidation
● Prepared with an innovative styrene suppression system, giving a lower-odor environment with up to 35% emissions reduction based on the VSE test per 40 CFR Subpart WWWW Appendix A (the US Composites MACT Standard)
For Asset Owners
● Offers the proven technology and performance of legacy DERAKANE™ series resins, plus a unique, proprietary identification system confirming tanks, pipes, and other equipment are built as specified
● Extends service life of equipment designed for corrosive environments, postponing the need for replacement
● Facilitates design and operation under heavy loads
● Improves toughness and reduces cracking from cyclic temperature and pressure fluctuations or mechanical shocks during shipping, installation, and operation
Typical Liquid Resin Properties
| Property at 25oC (77oF)
unless otherwise marked | Value
| Unit |
| Dynamic Viscosity | 86 MPa | ASTM D638 |
| Kinematic Viscosity | 3200 MPa | ASTM D638 |
| Styrene Content | 5-6% | ASTM D638 |
| Filled Weight Per Gallon at 77oF | 150 MPa | ASTM D790 |
Application
Suitable for fabricating FRP storage tanks, vessels, piping, ducts, and on-site maintenance projects, particularly in chemical processing and pulp and paper operations. Designed for ease of fabrication using hand lay-up, spray-up, and filament winding.
● When properly formulated and cured, complies with FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.2420 for repeated food-contact use
● Properly built laminates, including multi-step build-up, show good interlaminar adhesion
● Minimal to no resin excess between laminate layers is required for good secondary bonding — manufacturers should verify this with their own practices
● Addition of thixotropic agents and fillers can compromise corrosion resistance — contact ALTA Performance Materials before using them
