LOCTITE® EA 3473 — known in North America as Fixmaster Fast Set Steel Putty — is a fast-curing, steel-reinforced two-part epoxy purpose-built for metal repair rather than general bonding. Where LOCTITE® EA 1C™ is a machinable, sandable general-purpose epoxy for bonding a range of materials, EA 3473 is a steel-filled system designed to cure to a metal-like finish for rebuilding worn or damaged metal surfaces. It hardens in as little as ten minutes, doesn't sag on vertical or overhead surfaces, and bonds to steel, cast iron, stainless steel, concrete, copper, aluminum, and clean or abraded bronze. Typical repair jobs include stripped threads, leaking pipes and elbows, rebuilding worn shafts, and coating metal surfaces subject to wear — work that calls for a repair material closer to metal than to a standard adhesive.
