Product Description
Perkadox® 14-40B-GR-S is a 40% formulation of di(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzene on an inert carrier system, supplied in granular form. It is a bifunctional peroxide used for the crosslinking of natural rubber and synthetic rubbers, as well as polyolefins.Rubber compounds containing Perkadox® 14-40B-GR-S have excellent scorch safety, and under certain conditions one-step mixing is possible. Safe processing temperature is 135°C (rheometer ts2 > 20 min.), with a typical crosslinking temperature of 175°C (rheometer t90 about 12 min.).The same active peroxide is also available as Perkadox® 14-40B-PD (powder form, otherwise identical formulation) and, undiluted, as Perkadox® 14S-FL (flakes, for CR-PP extrusion and flame-retardant polystyrene synergist applications rather than rubber crosslinking).

As with all organic peroxides, Perkadox® 14-40B-GR-S is thermally unstable and can undergo self-accelerating decomposition. The Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT), determined by the Heat Accumulation Storage Test per UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, is 80°C.
Maximum storage temperature (Ts max.): 30°C. Under strictly recommended storage conditions, Perkadox® 14-40B-GR-S remains within specification for at least 6 months after delivery, and can generally be stored without significant loss in quality for up to 12 months under the same conditions. Store in a dry, well-ventilated place away from heat and ignition sources and direct sunlight; never weigh out product in the storage room; avoid contact with reducing agents (e.g. amines), acids, alkalines, and heavy metal compounds (e.g. accelerators, driers, metal soaps). Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for full handling guidance prior to use.
