Description
JEFFAMINE® T-403 is a trifunctional primary amine polyetheramine from Huntsman, built on repeating oxypropylene units with an average molecular weight of approximately 440. Its amine groups sit on secondary carbon atoms at the ends of three aliphatic polyether chains branching from a central core — the trifunctional structure is what distinguishes it from Huntsman's difunctional JEFFAMINE D-230, giving T-403 a role as a crosslinker/branching agent rather than a simple chain-extending curing agent.
Consistent with that higher functionality, T-403 carries a substantially higher AHEW (81 g/eq, versus 60 g/eq for D-230) and a much higher viscosity (72 cSt at 25°C, versus 9.5 cSt for D-230) — the third amine arm adds molecular weight and branching without adding equivalent reactive sites per unit mass.
APPLICATIONS
• Epoxy curing agent
• Anti-sag agent for polyurethanes
BENEFITS
• Low color and vapor pressure
• Completely miscible with a wide variety of solvents, including water
• Improves flexibility and strength
