What Are Organic Peroxides?
Organic peroxides are compounds containing an –O–O– (peroxy) bond, which decomposes under heat or acceleration to generate free radicals. These radicals initiate crosslinking or polymerization reactions in resins and elastomers.

1)MEKP (Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide)

2)DCP (Dicumyl Peroxide)
Dicumyl peroxide (DCP) is a high-temperature organic peroxide primarily used for crosslinking applications.

-Rubber vulcanization
-XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene)
-High-temperature composite molding
Key advantages:
-Excellent thermal stability
-Uniform crosslink density
-Low volatility
Limitations:
-Not suitable for room-temperature curing
-Requires precise temperature control
DCP is ideal when mechanical strength and heat resistance are critical.
3)BPO (Benzoyl Peroxide)
BPO is a classic free-radical initiator used in both thermal and redox systems.
Typical applications:
-SMC / BMC
-Acrylic polymerization
-Adhesives and coatings
Key advantages:
-Predictable decomposition
-Good surface cure
-Widely available
Limitations:
-Limited solubility in some resin systems
-Higher curing temperature compared to MEKP
BPO is often selected where surface quality and curing uniformity are required.
4)TBPB (Tert-Butyl Peroxybenzoate)
TBPB is a high-performance organic peroxide for elevated-temperature curing.
Typical applications:
-Pultrusion
-Hot-molded composites
-High-speed continuous processes
Key advantages:
-High decomposition temperature
-Excellent control in continuous production
-Low odor and better processing window
Limitations:
-Not suitable for low-temperature curing
-Higher cost than conventional peroxides
TBPB is preferred in automated, high-output composite manufacturing lines.
