● Excellent fire retardant, low smoke, and low toxicity properties
● Good heat resistance
● Good mechanical properties
● Easy processing
Application
Synolite™ 8175-W-1 is designed for ease of fabrication using hand lay-up and filament winding techniques. It is recommended for building and construction, and for transportation fire retardant applications.
● Condition the resin before use at a well-defined, application-dependent temperature (usually 15°C minimum for a MEKP/Co cure)
● Synolite™ 8175-W-1 contains cobalt accelerator; MEKP is the recommended peroxide — confirm the peroxide is within shelf life before use
● Maintain shop temperatures between 18°C and 32°C and humidity between 40% and 90% for consistent gel times
● Stir the product thoroughly before use; avoid styrene dilution to maintain fire retardant properties
● Fire resistance performance can be increased by adding 5–7% fire retardant to the resin
● Post-cure at elevated temperature (e.g. 80°C) for several hours to further optimize final cure state
Store indoors in the original, unopened, undamaged packaging, in a dry place at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C. Shelf life is reduced at higher temperatures, and resin properties may change during storage. Store in the dark, in 100% light-tight containers only. A Material Safety Data Sheet is available on request.
