Description
Efka FA 4609 is a polymeric wetting and dispersing agent with acidic groups, very efficient in wetting and dispersing titanium dioxide, fillers, extenders, and other inorganic pigments such as iron oxides. It enables high pigment and filler loading, is suitable for solvent-based systems, strongly reduces millbase viscosity, reduces pseudoplastic rheological behavior, increases hiding power, offers broad compatibility in a wide range of resin systems, and is suitable for high gloss systems. For a solvent-free version of a similar dispersing agent, see also Efka FA 4611, and for architectural and decorative paint applications specifically, see Efka FA 4608. For organic pigments and organically treated bentonite gels, see Efka FA 4644— all related BASF Efka dispersing agents from the same Additives Team.

Application
Efka® FA 4609 shows outstanding performance in dispersing and stabilizing inorganic pigments in particular titanium dioxide. In combination with a universal solvent based grinding resin like Laropal® A 81, low mill base viscosities with reduced pseudo plastic flow behavior can be achieved. Furthermore, Efka® FA 4609 is highly suitable to disperse iron oxide pigments.
