Desmodur HL BA is an aromatic/aliphatic polyisocyanate based on toluylene diisocyanate/hexamethylene diisocyanate. In combination with various Desmophen grades or other suitable hydroxyl-group-containing substances, it formulates clear or pigmented, two-component polyurethane coatings characterized by rapid drying and good lightfastness. It is supplied at approximately 60% concentration in butyl acetate. Desmodur HL BA generally has good compatibility with the solvents listed below; however, the solutions formed must be tested for their storage stability. Desmodur HL BA can be thinned with ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, and 1-methoxypropylacetate-2. Aromatics are not true solvents and have only limited compatibility as diluents for this product. Prolonged storage of a solution with low binder content may result in turbidity and sedimentation. Only PU-grade solvents should be used (< 0.05% water); the solvent should not contain reactive groups.
Desmodur HL BA is compatible with many Desmophen polyester grades. It has limited compatibility with acrylates containing hydroxyl groups. Generally speaking, Desmodur HL BA is compatible with standard Desmodur grades.

The product is sensitive to moisture. Storage at high temperatures leads to an increase in viscosity and a reduction of the NCO content.
