Description

Desmodur E 15 is an aromatic polyisocyanate prepolymer based on toluene diisocyanate, used in the formulation of flexible coatings and sealing compounds. It is supplied as a liquid of medium viscosity. Desmodur E 15 can be combined with a suitable hardener to formulate highly reactive two-component systems that yield highly flexible highbuild coatings, for example for use as crackbridging coatings on concrete surfaces. Combination with a latent hardener (bisoxazolidine) produces highly flexible one-component systems, for example for coating flat roofs.

Solubility / thinnability

Generally speaking, Desmodur®E 15 has good compatibility with esterssuch as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate and 1-methoxypropylacetate-2 and with aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene, xylene and Solvesso® 100. However, the solutions formed must be tested for their storage stability.Alcohols cannot be used because they react with Desmodur® E 15.Only PU grade solvents should be used (< 0.05 % water). The solvent shouldnot contain reactive groups.Prolonged storage of a solution with low binder content may result in turbidityand sedimentation.
