Description

CAB-O-SIL® M-5P is a high-purity fumed silica excipient manufactured by Cabot Corporation for the pharmaceutical industry. It serves as a multi-functional additive in solid dosage manufacturing and is compatible with many pharmaceutical ingredients.

As a flow aid, its glidant and anti-static properties reduce friction and static charge in high-speed tablet and capsule machines. By improving the spacing between powder particles and reducing moisture bridging, it helps prevent poor flow and bridging in the hopper, as well as segregation of active and inactive ingredients.

During die filling and compression, CAB-O-SIL M-5P improves the flow properties of the powder mixture and supports particle rearrangement in the die, promoting uniform tablet weight and active ingredient content. It can also increase tablet hardness and strength, helping to reduce defects such as chipping, capping, lamination and breaking.
