Description

Tosoh Poly-8 (P8) is a heavy polyethylene polyamine produced by Tosoh Corporation, one of the world's leading ethyleneamine manufacturers. It is a blend of higher-molecular-weight ethyleneamines, made up mainly of polyethylene polyamine and pentaethylenehexamine (PEHA), with smaller amounts of tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA). Each molecule carries many primary and secondary amine groups, giving Poly-8 a very high amine value (min. 1000) and nitrogen content (min. 30%). This makes it an efficient, highly reactive building block wherever multiple amine functionalities are needed.Poly-8 is a reddish-brown liquid with an ammonia odor and a high boiling point (230 °C). Its low volatility and high reactivity suit it to formulating epoxy hardeners, synthesizing polyamide and amidoamine resins, and producing cationic and nitrogen-rich specialty chemicals.
